The Dominican women’s basketball team completed their 2010-2011 season Feb. 24 in the semifinal game of the NAC tournament against the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. The Stars appeared to grab hold of the game early, but they quickly fell behind and lost the game 81-64.
The Stars, who have been noted for their offense, had trouble with their shooting on Thursday. They have been noticed for their top offense, averaging 74.1 points per game. They were the conference’s leading three-point shooting team.
The Falcons quickly took advantage of the Stars’ weakness as they shot 65 percent from the field (21-32) in the final 20 minutes of the game.
Juniors Sarah Budz and Kayla Blom led the Stars’ offense, finishing the game with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Budz and Blom helped the team score 27 points in the second half, but the Stars were unable to keep up and were outscored 51-35 in the second half.
Despite the unfortunate loss against the Falcons, the Stars finished with a winning record of 20-7 and claimed the NAC South Division Title with a 14-3 conference record. This was the first time the Stars have reached a 20 wins mark since joining the NCAA Division III in 2000.
